Reid Park Zoo

https://reidparkzoo.org/ The link I have provided is to a website called Reid Park Zoo. The zoo is located in Arizona, but do not be fooled, the site offers live web cam action of the animals! The target audience for the Reid Zoo are families or people who seek knowledge on the animals.

Above, I’ve inserted images to show the home screen on a desktop, iPhone, and tablet, in that order. As one can see, they look pretty similar as far as the home screen looks, but there are differences between the displays as well. The layouts in a single column for the iPhone. The smartphone uses responsive navigation where the desktop and the table use the regular navigation panel.

Everything has been compacted into a single column on the phone screen for users to see easily. Because of this, the navigation is displayed differently than the other two, and unnecessary content is taken out. Despite the differences, all three meet the target audience because although the layouts are sharp contrasts, they still provide the major key point information and resources.

One improvement this website could benefit from is a virtual map of the entire zoo. It might not be just me, but if I were to visit a zoo in the summer time, I’d rather have time to view the park and get a feel of the area before I arrive and try to navigate through it with the map they provide at the entrance. Another little tweak could be adding a button to press to take me back to the top of the page. A final modification could be to give the navigation bar a fixed layout so it would scroll down with me.

Flat Web Design

Flat Designing is becoming the new trend among the web designing world. Gone are the 3D visuals, gone are the gradients, gone are the wildly designed graphics! Here is a link to a website that uses this kind of design: http://ournameismud.co.uk/

Our name is Mud ditches the way we used think websites should be designed. Instead of sharp graphics that distract the eye, the designs are pretty two-dimensional, but that is not to say it’s a bad thing! The designs are clean layouts, they use solid colors, and the graphics allow the eyes to be drawn more towards the content of the text rather than occasionally glancing around the screen.

To Appeal, or Not to Appeal

What makes a website appealing? What about a website reaches out, and grips your attention, and refuses to let go? Is it the graphics? The content? Perhaps a mixture of both is what makes the best website. In my opinion, there is a website with easy-to-read graphics, striking content, and can be found at this URL: https://solarmovie.sc/movie/filter/series.html

Solarmovie is certainly appealing to me because it allows me to view movies and TV shows right on my laptop! If I’m on the go, the website is accessible on phones, too! The graphics are neat and mellow, and easy on the eyes, and because of that, I would most certainly recommend this website to a friend… it’s actually how I came across Solarmovie!

Now, what makes a website unappealing? What about a website makes you cringe, and quickly click off? Is it the graphics as well? Is the major difference between a good website and a bad website where it falls on the graphics and content scale? Obviously! There’s a website that I found myself quickly clicking the back button:http://www.webpagesthatsuck.com/

I’m not really sure what I was expecting when I went onto Web Pages That Suck, but it’s all in the name if you know what I mean. It’s just a list of web pages that -shocker- suck. Honestly, a web page dedicated solely to poke fun at poorly designed websites? There’s room for improvement for this site, and I would start by adding more content than just lists of terrible websites. In the meantime, I would not encourage people to visit Web Pages That Suck.

Trainrobber

Trainrobber is a graphical site that allows the user to peer through the eyes of others. This stunning site’s graphics allow 360 degree viewing! The intended audience is the general public. The director of Trainrobber wants the public eye to capture more than just what is in front of us, and I believe that the intended audience is gripped by the graphics and the virtual reality behind the site by giving everyone a different view than our own.

While Trainrobber packed a walloping hit to the public, and the designs are neat and stunning, I don’t really find use to it myself, mainly because I don’t really have any interest or need in virtual reality. However, to others who are more interested, the site addresses the changes and storytelling behind physical reality to virtual reality, and I would recommend Trainrobber to others. A way that I could see an improvement towards this site would be to add more content. It’s a great site filled with stunning graphics, but it could do better with more interactive options.

Personal Bio

Hello,

My name’s Brianna, and I’m more than happy to give a couple little facts about me! I’m a new student in college, and I’m majoring in Media Communications! Aside from that, I have certifications in welding, but found myself drawn more towards graphics, designing, and writing!

Speaking of writing, I’m familiar with a website dedicated to publishing, updating, and reading user stories online! The website is called Wattpad, and it’s completely free. Whether you have an account, create an account, or just don’t care to make one, it’s accessible to all! It’s also available as an app.

Another website that I use every now and again, and love is Tumblr. Everyone is capable of creating a blog on that site! The website is full of entertaining images, a variety of different blogs, and lots of options for your own personalized blogs! I personally use this site/app to pass time, take a break, interact with other users, and/or express my thoughts!
